Within the framework of the European Social Fund project “Health Promotion in Jelgava”, in the summer of 2023, the association “Swim Safely” provided six free safe swimming lessons for 120 children aged 5 to 16!
The lessons took place twice a month throughout the summer on the right bank of the Lielupe River. The aim is to educate about safe swimming and behavior in and around water bodies. Topics such as safe behavior in swimming areas, choosing safe swimming spots, water survival skills, behavior if accidentally falling into the water, freeing oneself from clothing, actions in emergency situations, helping someone in distress, and what constitutes sufficient swimming skills will be covered during the lessons.
