In the summer of 2023, three “Swim Safe” camps are being organized for the first time in Liepaja. In the five-day swimming and water safety training program, children improve their swimming skills, physical fitness, and learn about safe water recreation. In practical sessions, children gain an understanding of emergency situations in the water and how to act if they accidentally fall in, or how easy or difficult it is to help someone get to shore. Specialized rescue equipment and mannequins will be used in the sessions. The classes are led by certified sports and swimming coaches.
